Welcome, Professor! This guide will walk you through creating your Signature Library — a collection of your BJJ techniques that students can purchase and train with, even when you're not there.
What you'll create: Your own library of moves and variations, linked to your YouTube videos. Students buy it once, keep it forever, and train YOUR system on their phone.
📹 Step 1: Prepare Your YouTube Videos
Your library will link to YouTube videos demonstrating each technique. Here's how to set them up correctly:
You have three options:
- Unlisted (Recommended for Pro content) — Only people with the link can view. Perfect for exclusive content that comes with your Signature Library.
- Public — Anyone can find and watch. Great for marketing and growing your channel.
- Private — Only you can view. Don't use this for library videos!
Best practices for instructional BJJ videos:
- Show the full technique at normal speed first
- Break down into steps with clear narration
- Show common mistakes and how to avoid them
- Demonstrate from multiple angles
- Keep videos 2-5 minutes for best retention
- Go to YouTube Studio
- Click "Create" → "Upload videos"
- Set visibility to
Unlistedfor exclusive content - Copy the video URL (you'll need this for your library)
⚠️ Important: If you use Unlisted videos, don't share the direct YouTube links publicly. They should only be accessible through your Signature Library purchase.
📚 Step 2: Build Your Library in the App
Create your account at bjjgroundchess.com if you haven't already.
This is where you'll add all your moves and variations.
For each position you teach:
- Select the Goal (Defensive, Offensive, or Neutral)
- Enter the Position name (e.g., "Closed Guard - Bottom")
- Click "Add" to create the position
For each technique variation:
- Select the Parent Move (the position you created)
- Enter the Variation Title (e.g., "Scissor Sweep - Standard")
- Set the Probability (0.0-1.0) — your success rate estimate
- Click "Add Variation"
- Use Quick Edit to add your YouTube links (up to 3 per variation)
💡 Pro Tip: Set realistic probability percentages based on your experience. Students will see these as "success likelihood" — it helps them prioritize high-percentage moves.
📤 Step 3: Submit Your Library
Before you can sell your library, you'll need to connect your bank account:
- When you click "Submit to Marketplace," you'll be guided to set up Stripe
- Stripe securely handles your payouts — we never see your bank details
- This only takes about 2 minutes and you only do it once
Make sure all moves have:
- Clear, descriptive titles
- Accurate probability percentages
- Working YouTube links (at least 8 unique videos)
- Your info filled out (name, gym, belt rank)
Submit directly from the app — no email or file uploads needed:
- Go to the Library tab in the app
- Click "Submit as Signature Library"
- Fill in your details, agree to the terms
- Click "Submit to Marketplace"
- Your library goes live within minutes!
💡 Tip: Your library is auto-approved and goes live immediately. Students can start buying right away!
💰 Revenue Sharing
When your Signature Library goes live, here's how you earn:

Example: If your library gets 50 sales, you earn approximately $700 (70% × $19.99 × 50).
Payout Details
- Web Sales (Stripe): Payouts within 2-3 business days
- Mobile Sales (App Stores): Apple and Google hold funds for 30-45 days, then we pay you
- Minimum: No minimum — you get paid for every sale
- Method: Direct deposit via Stripe Connect

Your YouTube videos linked in the library continue to earn you ad revenue. When students watch your videos through the app:
- You keep 100% of your YouTube ad revenue
- Our app drives targeted BJJ traffic to your channel
- Unlisted videos won't earn ad revenue, but protect exclusive content

Can I update my library after it's published?
Yes! To update your library, delist the current version from your "My Libraries" section, make your edits, and submit again. Students who already purchased will keep their version.
What if my videos get taken down?
You're responsible for maintaining your YouTube content. Keep your videos available — if links break, students may request refunds.
How long until my library goes live?
Your library is auto-approved and goes live within minutes! Students can start buying immediately.
Can I remove my library from the marketplace?
Yes! Go to your "My Libraries" section and click "Delist from Marketplace." Students who already purchased will keep access.
