🎓 Build Your Digital Legacy

Welcome, Professor! This guide will walk you through creating your Signature Library — a shareable, monetizable collection of your BJJ knowledge that your students can import with one tap.

What you'll create: A JSON library file containing your moves, variations, success percentages, and links to your YouTube instructional videos. Students import this and train YOUR system, even when you're not there.

📹 Step 1: Prepare Your YouTube Videos

Your library will link to YouTube videos demonstrating each technique. Here's how to set them up correctly:

1 Choose Video Privacy Settings

You have three options:

  • Unlisted (Recommended for Pro content) — Only people with the link can view. Perfect for exclusive content that comes with your Signature Library.
  • Public — Anyone can find and watch. Great for marketing and growing your channel.
  • Private — Only you can view. Don't use this for library videos!
2 Record Your Techniques

Best practices for instructional BJJ videos:

  • Show the full technique at normal speed first
  • Break down into steps with clear narration
  • Show common mistakes and how to avoid them
  • Demonstrate from multiple angles
  • Keep videos 2-5 minutes for best retention
3 Upload to YouTube
  1. Go to YouTube Studio
  2. Click "Create" → "Upload videos"
  3. Set visibility to Unlisted for exclusive content
  4. Copy the video URL (you'll need this for your library)

⚠️ Important: If you use Unlisted videos, don't share the direct YouTube links publicly. They should only be accessible through your Signature Library purchase.

📚 Step 2: Build Your Library in the App

1 Sign Up / Log In to BJJ Ground Chess

Create your account at bjjgroundchess.com if you haven't already.

2 Go to the Library Tab

This is where you'll add all your moves and variations.

3 Add Positions & Moves

For each position you teach:

  1. Select the Goal (Defensive, Offensive, or Neutral)
  2. Enter the Position name (e.g., "Closed Guard - Bottom")
  3. Click "Add" to create the position
4 Add Variations with YouTube Links

For each technique variation:

  1. Select the Parent Move (the position you created)
  2. Enter the Variation Title (e.g., "Scissor Sweep - Standard")
  3. Set the Probability (0.0-1.0) — your success rate estimate
  4. Click "Add Variation"
  5. Use Quick Edit to add your YouTube links (up to 3 per variation)

💡 Pro Tip: Set realistic probability percentages based on your experience. Students will see these as "success likelihood" — it helps them prioritize high-percentage moves.

📤 Step 3: Export Your Library

1 Review Your Library

Make sure all moves have:

  • Clear, descriptive titles
  • Accurate probability percentages
  • Working YouTube links
  • Helpful descriptions (optional but recommended)
2 Export as JSON

Click the "Export Library JSON" button in the Library tab. This downloads your complete library as a .json file.

3 Submit Directly from the App

No email needed! Submit your library directly from within the app:

  1. Go to the Library tab in the app
  2. Click "Submit as Signature Library"
  3. Fill in your details and click Submit
  4. We'll review within 3-5 business days
